#RunSurvey: How Much Does Running Cost?

OneToughMotherRunner

Last week on the blog, I revealed that I am an Olympic-class bargain shopper (cue Olympic theme music). I have been known to even engage what I refer to as “combat shopping.” That’s Black Friday style shopping where the mobs are out to get the best deal. I love to stretch my dollar as far as it will go. Sometimes it is out of necessity, but most of the time, it’s the thrill of the hunt … for the bargain!

This week’s #RunSurvey wants to know how much you spend on running each year. Your best estimate is just fine for our purposes here.

Shout Out

During the month of January, I’ve been leading the #PlanksALot Challenge for anyone who wanted to join my group. Over 75 people have participated in the group, and we’ve encouraged each other to continue to do our best and push ourselves to do a plank a day and hold it for an increasingly longer time.

Through the #PlanksALot Challenge, I met the Run It Off Writer, who blogs at Run It Off. She recently celebrated her 1,000th view on her blog. To celebrate, she offered to interview the first person to comment on her post celebrating 1,000. Luckily, I was awake at 2:00 am, and I was able to be the first to comment. (You know how it is when you are a mom! The clock never stops!)

She gave me a really great set of unique interview questions that were customized to me. I loved that she took the time to go through my blog and get to know me before she sent me the interview questions. Class act, lady!

So if you want to know more about me, and hear about how I got started in running (7 months ago), and how Samuel L. Jackson influences my work (!), then stop on over to take a look at my interview.

She’s also very witty in the under 140 characters crowd. Check her out at: https://twitter.com/runitoffwriter

  1. Geez what a good question! I would like to estimate that in 2012 I probably spent about $1000 on running. This includes entry fees, gear, shoes, clothes, fuel, etc. I know it’s a lot but its do worth it!

Cecilia – I completely agree that it is totally worth it. Running has energized my life in so many ways! You can’t buy those good endorphins! ;) Wendy

What a great blog today. I have never considered what I spend on running…etc. I think I am a cheapskate based on my survey and want to go buy something new though. ;)
